About the event
“Phygital Meta-Archive: An Immersive Alternate Hong Kong-verse,” one of the exhibitions in PolyU Design Show 2024, is now offering to the Murray House, Stanley neighbors on experiencing the VR experience. The Phygital Meta-Archive VR experience lasts about 20 minutes.
The exhibition endeavors to reinterpret Hong Kong's past, present, and future through a fusion of virtual and tangible models, VR content, and interactive experiences.
Drawing inspiration from film, mythology, literature, and other domains, students reimagine the city's landscape. Speculative narratives and visual storytelling will transport visitors to alternate realities.
Through the imaginative lens of the students, we aim to reassess the trajectory of different time zones and present a novel narrative of Hong Kong, stepping into a realm of hyper-reality.
The exhibition delves into the impact of innovation and technology. Following the students' perspectives, we push forward their deliverables by integrating immersive tech and physical interaction (i.e. Phygital) to influence the experience of the city. By harnessing the power of Phygital interaction, we seamlessly blend the physical and digital realms, allowing the audience to interact with both tangible and virtual models of architectural designs. This provides them with the opportunity to manipulate and explore various design elements freely, adjusting lighting, materials, and other parameters through intuitive gesture controls and interactive interfaces. Putting together an archive of Hong Kong-verse, we could uncover potential implications for social interaction, and cultural experiences.
We invite the audience to immerse themselves in this imaginative and creative exploration of Hong Kong, bearing witness to the students' unique and captivating reinterpretation of the city.
